Nick Talbot

Nick Talbot is hoping to become the first person with Cystic Fibrosis to climb the world’s tallest mountain when he sets out on the fundraising feat of a lifetime in April 2014.
The 37-year-old from London is hoping to raise £100,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, which will be celebrating its 50th year in 2014.
A seasoned climber, Nick has twice tackled Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world, and has now set his sights on the ultimate challenge.
According to Nick, he will be the first person in the world with cystic fibrosis to climb to the summit of Everest.

Speaking about his challenge, Nick said: “I’ve had a few ups and downs but my health has generally been much better than most people who have cystic fibrosis. I’m also lucky to benefit from a new medication which can only help a small percentage of people with cystic fibrosis and has meant that my lung function has improved and my health is even more stable. It will be really tough, but I know some with cystic fibrosis have to endure fighting to walk and breathe every day. I’m doing this for them.”

Vicky Bratherton, the Trust’s Regional Fundraising Manager for Greater London, said: “We are in awe of Nick; people with cystic fibrosis have a daily struggle to keep well. They may tackle challenges such as marathons and high climbs but we know of no one with cystic fibrosis who has climbed to the top of the world’s highest mountain. Nick’s achievements and fundraising will have a huge impact on people with cystic fibrosis. "
